Although I had mentioned before that sometimes looking back is a good way to move forward, there are other times where things are left in the past for a reason. You may get nostalgic but recapturing the past may be impossible. And that’s not a bad thing! I’ve been giving a lot of thought to where I’ve been and where I’m going, both personally and artistically, and knowing what to hold on to and what to move on from is a task no matter which aspect of life you are looking at.
In that effort to keep moving forward, to find that horizon line and keep marching toward the vanishing point (I may have to put that on a t-shirt!) I have been continuing the X-Men sketch series. As I post this there are 12 illustrations up on my Instagram, plus a bonus combo one that I’ll attach with this ramble as well. Also, my favorite month of the year has given me a new year-long gift with Inktober 52! 52 weekly prompts for illustrations. The first one was “Flight” so I HAD to lead with the Man Of Steel. The second one (this week’s) is “Shadow” so as I type this I have the pencils on the board for a Batman piece, inks will be done before Thursday the 16th.
I’m moving forward, getting content out, hopefully people are looking, liking, and sharing. I’ve got a lot of plans for art for this year, and I’ll be making it whether people are following along or not. As the say though “the more, the merrier” so hopefully there are a lot of people who want to See Shep Draw!
